MOTORCYCLE TOUR ON THE WINDING ROAD TO SELLA PASS, DOLOMITES
A scenic motorbike tour ride facing the switchbacks on the serpentine road to the amazing Sella pass in the Dolomites
Motorcycle tour on the winding road to Sella pass, Dolomites
Sella Pass (Passo Sella in Italian and Sellajoch in German) is located in the Italian Alps and it links two of the most suggestive valleys of the Dolomites: Val di Fassa and Val Gardena. So, this Dolomitic pass connects the village of Selva di Val Gardena with that of Canazei. Climbing the pass from both sides is an equally very exciting experience on a motorbike since it offers gorgeous views over the Dolomitic Sassolungo Massif and the five impressive Torri del Sella.
Leaving Selva di Val Gardena located at 1,563 meters a.s.l., you will ride 9.5 kilometers before reaching Sella pass, 2,240 meters a.s.l.. This uphill road features several switchbacks that are numbered in reverse: that means the hairpin bend with the highest number will be the first one you will face, and so on. Breathtaking views await you along the last kilometers where the road is surrounded by endless meadows with the Sassolungo Dolomite massif right in front of you.
While, if you start from Canazei, located at 1,456 meters above sea level, it takes 11.4 kilometers to reach Sella pass. On this side too, just like on the side from Selva di Val Gardena, you will have to face with your motorcycle many hairpins, and similarly, here too, the numbering starts from the highest number to the lowest one toward the pass. Here too, you will enjoy breathtaking views both on your right side over Sass Pordoi, one of the Dolomites of the Sella Group, and on the left side over the five towering spectacular Torri del Sella.
