Itinerary: Trento
Scenic walk along the streets of Trento
This scenic walk along the streets of Trento (pic n°1), 160 km north of Milan, starts from the railway station and will continue along Via Andrea Pozzo and Lungadige Monte Grappa. Then, you will reach Palazzo delle Albere (pic n°1), one of the most important monuments of the city of Trento. It was built in the mid-sixteenth century by order of Bishop Christopher Madruzzo, a member of the Madruzzo's family who was ruling in Trento in that period.

A few more steps and you will reach the Museum of Science (pic n°2), called MUSE. There are sections showing the animals and the typical flora of the various climates, but the most interesting part is the area of the interactive spaces equipped with high-level scientific instrumentations.

Continue along Via delle Orfane, where you will be touched by the beauty and liveliness of this street. Then you will get to the beautiful Piazza Duomo (pic n°4), where are located the Civic Tower, the Cathedral of San Vigilio, the Praetorian Palace (which houses the Diocesan Museum of Trento), and the eighteenth-century Fountain of Neptune (pic n°5). From Piazza Duomo, continue along Via Belenzani and you will reach the Thun Palace which is the seat of the Municipality of Trento and was built in 1500. There are still well-preserved centenarians frescoes inside.

Now take the direction towards Piazza Cesare Battisti. This square is located in the center of the popular neighborhood of San Benedetto, the heart of Trento, with many medieval alleys around. Below the pavement, there is the Roman Civitas that can be visited.

A few steps from Via San Pietro and you will find Buonconsiglio Castle (pic n°6), built as early as the thirteenth century, which houses the Tower of the Eagle and the most important example of the Gothic art of the Cycle of the Months, and the Magno Palace with frescoes by Romanino.

Going back towards the railway station you will meet Piazza Dante where there is a beautiful little park with the statue of the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri, erected in 1896. All around the statue, there are many representations of the "Canti della Divina Commedia" (Divine Comedy). Some pictures about this walking tour:
