"Strada della Forra" (Route Forra) is a legendary, breathtaking scenic drive located on the left side of Lake Garda. It was described by the German journalists of Frankfurter Zeitung as one of the world's most beautiful road, whereas Winston Churchill said it was the eighth wonder of the world.

This provincial road connects the small town of Tremosine to the shore of Lake Garda through the impressive rift carved by the river Brasa. 'Strada della Forra' winds up to the upland of Tremosine through many tunnels, providing travelers with the most amazing views of the lake. You can admire all around picturesque landscapes, ancient hamlets that cling to the mountainsides, deep gorges and steep slopes. This scenic drive is not devoid of dangers as it mostly runs on the verge of a deep ravine where only a very small guardrail separates you from the near precipice.

The road is asphalted, but it is very narrow and not in good conditions. You have to be very careful when driving and have to pay special attention to the road. It could be a thrilling experience driving along this stretch at night, and having a wonderful look at the lake and at the mountainside illuminated on some points. But, it is advised only for those with strong driving skills.

Several movies about car-chases, like that in one of the James Bond's movies and some television commercials of prestigious car manufacturers, were set here. Also, many Italian and Europian motorcyclists love this famous winding road.

Strada della Forra can be easily reached from Limone del Garda, a nice town located on the western shore of Lake Garda.

Tremosine is a charming ancient village located on the homonymous upland in the mid of a well-preserved territory. Green mountains, rolling fields, amazing views of the lake welcome the brave drivers and visitors that get there. At the end of the road, there is a small restaurant on the verge of the ravine, where it is possible to enjoy a spectacular view over the lake 360 meters below.

Truffles and olive oil are the two traditional products of this area. The local cuisine is simple but tasty: we mention "Capù" (slices of bread with olive oil and chards), "Spongadi" (a kind of pastry), "Spiè" (meat on a spit) and "Polenta cusa" (cornmeal mush with local cheese).
