Visit the astonishing Val di Fiemme in the Italy's Dolomites
Val di Fiemme (pic n°1) is a beautiful valley located in the eastern part of the region Trentino Alto Adige (South Tirol) in the Italian Dolomites (pic n°4) and not far from the cities of Trento and Bolzano. The valley is bordered to the west by the mountain group of Latemar (pic n°3)(pic n°4), and to the east by the mountain range of Lagorai (pic n°2). Moreover, it is nestled between two amazing natural parks: Pavoneggio Pale di San Martino, and Ponte Corvo. Wherever you will go within this valley, the view over the Dolomites will be absolutely astonishing!
Val di Fiemme (pic n°1) includes many mountain villages and ski resorts, including an overall ski area of 110 kilometers. Most of the ski slopes of the valley are easy or intermediate so that both experts and beginners can enjoy skiing here. The ski resorts are well equipped with modern ski lifts and facilities, in order to please all needs. This valley is a perfect destination for skiers, cross-country skiers, snowboarders, freestylers, and for all those who love winter sports.
The valley is divided into 2 municipalities. The most important historic and economic center of the valley is Cavalese, a picturesque town where to find whatever you may need, from cafes to shops, from restaurants to pubs and discos. When here, you could visit the Church of San Vigilio and some of the amazing noble villas scattered around the town, among which Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità stands out.
Furthermore, if you visit Cavalese in January, you will have the chance to be a spectator of a local celebration called "Witch prosecution" during which people burn a witch. It is a kind of show that takes place along the streets to commemorate a dramatic event and its purpose is to keep alive the memory. In fact, here, between 1501 and 1505, 14 people were accused of witchcraft and sentenced to death. More than 100 people dressed up in medieval costumes take part in this spectacular event.

Predazzo is another famous ski resort in the valley. Among many tourist attractions, you can visit Forte Dossaccio, an Austro-Hungarian fortification, and Palazzo della Regola Feudale. The town is divided into some picturesque districts, and it is a very lively place always full of young people and countless activities to choose from.
Finally, visit the historic village of Castello di Fiemme (pic n°5), located in the center of Val di Fiemme, a renowned tourist destination both in summer and in winter, thanks to its convenient position, many tourist facilities and attractions.
Many villages in Val di Fiemme offer the opportunity to practice several other kinds of sports too, such as swimming or ice skating.
Also, adults and children will be able to choose among countless after-ski activities and attractions. And, at the end of the day, it will be a pleasure to sit next to a fireplace in one of the many restaurants and cafes, tasting the local and regional specialties.
