The ski resort of Piancavallo in the Friulian Dolomites
Piancavallo is a ski resort located in a valley at the foot of Monte Cavallo and belongs to the province of Pordenone, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Located 1280 meters above sea level in the heart of the Friulian Dolomites, it is a purpose-built resort born in 1968 and constructed in a traditional 'chalet' style. It was the first ski resort in Italy to employ an artificial snow system.
Piancavallo ski area includes 25 kilometers of slopes for all level skiers, served by 9 ski lifts. The main slopes are Nazionale Bassa, Salomon, and Tublat. Cross-country skiers can enjoy 26 kilometers of trails, some of which are accessible at night as well.
The beautiful Snowboard Fun Park surrounded by a forest of fir trees will ensure lots of fun to both beginner and expert freestyle snowboarders and skiers. You can also enjoy border crossing and ski crossing or ice skating. Children and young people (but not only) can have fun in Nevelandia (a big playground on the snow), in the sledding area, or trying the exciting snow tubing or with bob on track (Alpine Coaster).
Piancavallo has become a beloved destination for snow lovers and mountain goers. It is also the location where the Women's World Cups has been regularly hosted.
In the town, there are several hotels, restaurants, and cafes where to have a hot chocolate after a day on the snow. Furthermore, the mountains of Piancavallo are a great lookout over the Venetian lagoon and the Adriatic Sea: just imagine the charm of this unique snow & sea contrast!
The ski area of Piancavallo is also fully equipped with snow cannons to allow snowmaking in the case of adverse weather. The town offers visitors a lot of services and facilities to ensure a pleasant stay with fun or just a relaxing but unforgettable ski holiday.
