Itinerary: Pila
Pila, the beautiful ski resort located in Aosta Valley
Pila is a famous Italian ski resort located in the region of Valle d'Aosta (Aosta Valley). The ski resort is easily accessible from all directions, thanks also to a new and fast cable car service that links Aosta, the capital city of this region, to Pila in not more than 17 minutes.
The ski area of Pila is very popular among skiers and winter sports lovers of all ages and abilities, because of the many activities it offers. First of all, the ski district includes more than 70 kilometers of trails that range from 1800 meters to 2750 meters high, and which offers visitors unforgettable views on Mont Blanch (the highest mountain in Europe with its 4.808 meters a.s.l.), and on the whole Monte Rosa mountain group.
This area is perfect for those who want a perfect winter holiday, since the temperatures are never too low, the weather never too cold or bad, and the slopes are usually sheltered from the wind. Many slopes of this area are worthy, but the most spectacular ones are Conius 1 and Leisse, while Chamolè is perfect for the most reckless skiers.
This is a place to go for snowboarders and free riders as well. The former will have lots of fun in the modern and well equipped Araeffe snowpark, while free riders will have a new challenging track to experience, which starts from the 2700-meters Platta de Grevon and running down to Plan De L'Eyve at 2200 meters, served by a treadmill covered by a plexiglass tunnel.
The amazing facilities that Pila can offer its visitors are not over yet. In fact, Chacard is a fun park dedicated to those who buy at least a 4-day ski pass, and it includes two slopes: one is for snow tubing while the other is designed for sledding and bobsledding.
Keen on other winter activities? Cross-country skiing, trips with snow rackets, and hiking with dog sleds are some of the activities that Pila offers as well to make its visitors have a lot of fun!
During the summer season, Pila turns its slopes into a bike park, which also hosted the mountain bike World Cup in 2005 and the Italian Championship in 2008.
Spectacular views over Mont Blanch and the whole Monte Rosa mountain group!
